HIV from deep kissing/dry humping?!
Apr 15, 2007

Hi Dr. Bob,

I'm a bit confused, just because I called the CDC hotline and the ansewrs more confused me than anything else. Anyway, I engaged in lots of deep kissing and dry humping (both with our jeans on, but I wasn't wearing underwear under them, I don't know about him), with a guy of unknown status) (but I know that he's been around, so I assume he is of fairly high risk). I know that he got really excited and got a wet spot on his pants. Am I at risk from these activities? Does this warrant HIV testing?

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

The CDC couldn't answer such a simple question??? YIKES! I can only assume another bumbling Dubya appointee must be manning the phone lines, if they are that incompetent.

Kissing and dry humping are not considered to be a risk for HIV transmission. Period. HIV testing is not warranted.

Dr. Bob
