| Meth & Blood with Oral Jan 17, 2007 I invited a guy over that I met online. He shows up and goes to the bathroom before sex. I walk in the bathroom and he has a needle out and was about to inject some meth. This is not my thing but, asked about what he was doing. He put a small drop on his finger -out of the needle and put it in his mouth. Then took a very, very tiny drop out of the syringe and he put it on the top of my tounge. I noticed there was some darker stuff in the syringe - blood from the last time he had used....probably a few hours before but, I don't know. I asked if he was positive and he said he had been tested in Nov. and he was negative. We proceded to have safe sex. However, I am now amazed that I allowed him to put even the smallest drop on my tongue. I know HIV does not live long outside the body but, a small amount in a syringe with meth? I don't know that he was positive but, if he is what is my risk factor here? Should I get a HIV NAAT test? If I do, how long do I need to wait before that test would be usefull? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Online hook-up guys with syringes full of meth shooting up in your bathroom before sex should indeed throw up more red flags than one would find on Tiananmen Square for Mao's birthday! I'm glad you had "safe sex;" however, I really have no way of quantitating the risk of the "very, very tiny drop" from that syringe that he placed on your "tounge." To effectively rule out HIV, you would need an ELISA test at the three-month mark. Good luck. Dr. Bob | |||||||||
