Definition of barebacking Dec 16, 2006 OK this is probably a stupid question. What does barebacking exactly mean? Is it unsafe sex with a known HIV+ partner or a general definition of unprotected anal sex? Thanks very much |

 Hi, Barebacking is a term that originated in gay slang to describe unprotected anal sex. The term's usage, however, has crossed over to more mainstream slang to describe any type of penetrative sexual act without use of a condom. The term comes from barebacking, as in riding a horse or other animal without a saddle. So, if you have unprotected sex on a horse without a saddle, technically you would be barebacking while barebacking, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it! Dr. Bob | ||||||||
