| Guardasil and HIV testing Dec 14, 2006 Hi Dr Bob, I know you have answered questions about vaccinations and HIV tests MANY MANY times before but because Guardasil is a new vaccine I cannot seem to quell my anxiety that the vaccination could have affected my HIV test. I received my first guardasil (HPV vaccine) shot probably 5 minutes before the blood was drawn for my HIV test. My doctor said the vaccine would not affect the test but I trust you more than her. Can Guardasil affect the HIV result...in other words, make the result a FALSE NEGATIVE? I just worry about it because I know it's a very new vaccine. Also, I want to get re-tested just to stop my anxiety...can the HPV vaccine affect the result a month after the first shot? THANK YOU SO MUCH! |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Guardasil vaccine will not affect HIV test results, the ability of the body to make anti-HIV antibodies or the duration of the window period. Period! You're welcome so much. Happy (Worry-Free) Holidays! Dr. Bob | |||||||||
