i recently got a negative hiv result from rapid hiv test(serodia hiv1/2). my possible hiv risk was an oral sex 4 years ago. please help. i have read about use of corticosteroids may cause false negative result. i use seretide to control my asthma i use every morning and evening. seretide contains corticosteroids. could my asthma inhaler cause a false hiv negative result? please help me doctor Bob... im still in the dark and cannot move on with my life knowing that i could still be possibly hiv infected.
Response from Dr. Frascino
Seretide is fluticasone plus salmeterol. (It's called Advair in the U.S.) Used as recommended it will not affect your HIV-antibody test results. You are negative. Stop worrying and start WOO-HOOing, OK?
Be well. Stay well.
