p24 antigen test Aug 19, 2006 If immune system is suppressed for eny reason [ not able to produce hiv antibodi] for longer period of time , would p24 antigen test be positive.Does immune system needs to be healty[not suppressed ]to test p24 positive if person have hiv.Does it matter how much time pass after infection if no hiv antibodi to get p24 test positive [if infected.Thank you Dr. Bob I will send my donation. |

 Hello, P24 antigen is sometimes used as an alternative to plasma HIV RNA tests to detect acute HIV infection, due to P24's reduced cost. Its sensitivity is less than quantitative HIV RNA tests.
