| oral - water as a transport? Jul 23, 2006 Firstly, donation will be forthcoming. Secondly, I received unprotected oral from a professional. The twist is that her mouth was full of water. Would this help transmission or not at all. I'm know obviously worried out of my mind, have symptoms (discharge, irritable uretha) and am thinking of doing PEP. Advice? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, First, thank you! Second, a month full of water would most likely decrease rather than increase risk of transmission, due to the dilution effect. Third, I would not recommend PEP, as the HIV risk from insertive oral sex (with or without the tongue-water-aerobics trick) is extremely minimal. However, since you are having "discharge and irritable urethra," I would suggest you have an STD screen. Many STDs are readily transmitted via oral sex. Luckily HIV is not one of them! Good luck!
