|BF was using Crystal Meth
May 14, 2006
I just broke up with my boyfriend and found out that he has been using Crystal Meth for at least a year, and we were together for 2 years. I got tested right after we broke up and it was negative, but we had high risk sex in the last 3 months. I'm concerned that he has been using Crystal Meth and was cheating on me. Would this be a good exampke of when to take the HIV PCR DNA test?

A good "exampke"???
No, having a tweaker for an ex-boyfriend is not a reason to get an HIV PCR DNA. However, it's certainly a good reason to get a new boyfriend. New boyfriend or not, HIV PCR DNA tests are not recommended for routine HIV screening. A three-month ELISA is still the way to go.
