Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Half of all new HIV infections in the United States are in individuals aged 13 to 24 years old. This accounts for 20,000 new HIV infections annually. That's one every hour! Two thirds of these infected teens and young adults contract HIV sexually and more than 60% of new infections are in young women. Approximately 75% are in racial or ethnic minority groups and more than one third of HIV-infected young people have not been tested for HIV infection. The majority of gay HIV-infected youth are completely unaware they are infected with the virus. Spread the word! Stay safe. Stay well! Get tested if you've placed yourself at risk.
