Oral Transmission? Jan 12, 2006 Hello Dr. Bob, First let me say, your website is extremely informative and very much a comfort to many. Fast question for you as you are the only doctor I truely respect. Can a person get hepatitis B from giving/receiving oral sex? Your response would be so very much appreciated.  Hello, There are no good clinical studies that have measured the risk of hepatitis B transmission through oral sex that I am aware of. Unquestionably the sexual transmission of hepatitis B, like HIV, occurs primarily through via unprotected anal and vaginal sex. Oral transmission, in my opinion, would probably be difficult. The bottom line regarding hepatitis B is "get vaccinated!"
