30 Seconds of Pleasure- 28 Days of PEP
Dec 19, 2005
Dr Bob, About a week ago, I engaged in unsafe sex as a bottom. I don't know what came over me to do such a foolish thing, but I am paying the price now. I just started PEP and it is making me real sick. My partner "topped" me for a total of 30 seconds. After that, I became frightened and stoped. He did not ejaculate in me. My question is whether my chances of developing HIV are significantly lower since the encounter was so brief and there was no ejaculation?
Response from Dr. Frascino
Yes, brief exposure and not ejaculating will decrease your chances of acquiring HIV; however, it certainly does not eliminate those chances. Having taken antiretroviral drugs for well over a decade, I agree with you: PEP is no picnic!
Good luck with your follow-up HIV tests. I hope by posting your questions, others will think twice about those "30 seconds of pleasure." Sex is always cleaner with a packed wiener!
