Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, You can have an ELISA test at three weeks or anytime you wish. The real question is whether it would mean anything. The current guidelines indicate that ELISA tests taken prior to three months are not considered to be conclusive. Consequently, for a definitive result, wait three month or more from your last potential exposure to get HIV tested, OK? Heroin does not affect HIV antibody production, the duration of the window period or HIV test results. Finally, I'm a man, but doubt I'm the man. Good luck with your test. Dr. Bob | |||||||||
