Please Help - I'm Scared
Apr 11, 2005

Thank you for your help regardless of the answer. I'm really scared and have suffered from panic attacks in the past, I had protected vaginal and anal sex but received unprotected oral and received about a 5 second anul rim job and prior to that about a half hour of deep throat kissing...2.5 days later I noticed a red non painful sore on the side of my tongue towards the front which was followed a day or so later by the same thing on the other side...does not look like thrush or leukoplakia and has not gone away...I'm so scared..I've been suffering from massive anxiety ever since...I have had night sweats, headache and am overwhelm by fear and panick...no signs of a fever, swollen glands or diaheria...could this be an indication I'm hiv+...please help me I need your thoughts!

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello,

Your HIV risk is very low and certainly does not warrant "massive anxiety." If you feel you've placed yourself at risk, get tested at the three-month mark. Whether you decide to test or not, I strongly recommend you get without delay psychiatric help to cope with your panic attacks and anxiety.

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
