Passing joints with "aphthae" inside my mounth
Nov 24, 2004

Hi Dr. Bob!

I know you have been answering similar questions but please answer mine too, i am scared to death!

4 weeks ago i was sharing a joint (cannabis cigarete) with several unknown people. I know this shouldn't be a HIV risk, but i had aphtha in my mounth, on the inside of the lower lip. I don't know, if aphthae is a correct word. What i mean is the quite painful open non bleeding spot (4 mm in diameter) on the inside of the mounth. I think it is covered with dead leuquocites.

Is there a risk? How great is it? Thank you worried student

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi Worried Student,

Don't worry. You did not go "one toke over the line" as far as HIV risk is concerned. In fact, your HIV risk is nonexistent.

Stay well.

Dr. Bob
