Hello Weeping Africa,
Yes, I'm in Boston. It's a sunny autumn day and the leaves are falling, but still quite magnificent.
What were Americans thinking? Hmmm, that's a hard one to answer, because it appears all those Red States weren't thinking very clearly at all! Bush apparently won on "moral values," drawing on a devoted flock of evangelicals, as they call themselves, who came out to oppose abortion, suffocate stem-cell research and support a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. Meanwhile, Dubya drummed up fake evidence to trick us into war with Iraq, sticking our troops in an "immoral"position with no exit strategy. For this he won on "moral issues???"
Did you hear scary Cheney introducing his main man for his victory speech? "This has been a consequential presidency which has revitalized our economy and reasserted a confident American role in the world." No doubt Halliburton's segment of the economy is revitalized. And "confident" isn't exactly the first word that pops into my mind for a foreign policy that has alienated everyone except Borneo. We can only wait and watch as the entire loony Bush/Cheney gaggle further mucks things up. So what's next on their compassionate conservative agenda? Invading France???
