| Statins slow down production of antibodies? Oct 6, 2004 Dr. Bob, Here is a question you never have answered! Can the taking of statins like zocor slow down the production of hiv anti-bodies? Took an hiv test at 3 months after high risk anal experience with another man, test was negative but was wondering if statin would effect production of anti-bodies? Thank you |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Well actually I have answered this question before, and the answer has not changed. Zocor (or other statins) does not slow the production of HIV antibodies, alter the time course of the "window period" or affect the results of HIV tests. Hope that helps clarify things for you. Good luck. Stay well. Dr. Bob | |||
