Humbly applying for X-file admission
Jul 20, 2004

Hi Dr. Bob,

my previous ten-week negative has in the meantime been confirmed by another test at week twelve (I did not manage to wait through to week 13, but where I live it appears to be the case that twelve weeks are generally considered sufficiently conclusive, so I've decided to wooohooo instead of continue to worry). Also, at least according to urine PCR, my chlamydia have finally surrendered to antibiotics - which, although a comparably negligible problem, also warrants a minor woo-hoo in my opinion.

As my exposure - complete condom failure during vaginal intercourse with a prostitute - was significant, and as I did in fact contract an STD in the process apparently, and because I did have lots of "symptoms" (occasional cold chills, heavy night sweats, localized sweating during the day, swollen and hurting lymph nodes, slight pains while swallowing things, inexplicable tingling sensations in my legs, and on top of this chlamydia that didn't go away despite several rounds of treatment with antibiotics and whitish coating of the tongue) I guess the fact that I did at the end come back negative on HIV ought to help other worriers gain confidence while going through their window period - but, if they are like me, of course they will think that their own case is, in some respect, utterly different and that they will be HIV-positive. I guess that attempts at self-diagnosis are simply a dangerous thing, especially when one is dealing with a condition that can't be reliably diagnosed based on symptoms alone even by people who have had relevant medical training and who are less biased than a person is when they are actively looking for symptoms...

In conclusion, I would like to thank you a lot for your replies to my previous posts, as well as for your other postings, a lot of which i did read during those three months. And, of course, I would also like to kindly ask for official x-file-membership, if my negative at twelve weeks combined with my previous "worried" status as documented in two previous postings posted here is considered sufficient credentials for that.

May you live long and prosper, BentFour
