|HIV and Blood Test
Jul 25, 2003
I put myself at risk last summer, but I took a blood test that November and the doc said my blood was fine. I took another blood test yesterday. Do they test for HiV when they do a blood test? I'll really appreciate it if you answer this. God Bless.

HIV infection is determined (primarily, and most reliably) through an HIV antibody test. If you want to know your HIV status, get an HIV antibody test three or more months after your exposure, and leave it at that.
If you are not sure if your doctor performed an antibody test, ask her. Just because your doc said that your blood was "fine" does not mean that you were tested for HIV.
