International Donations and Transmission question -3rd ask
Jul 16, 2003
Is it possible for the HIV virus to be transmitted via accidental hand contact with the seminal fluid or blood of an HIV positive male, and then touching ones gentitals either through urination or masturbation ? Can the HIV virus survive in the open environment one somebody's hand ? Finally, please advise where international wire transfer donations can be made to. Thanks,
Response from Mr. Kull
When HIV is transmitted through contact with semen or blood, it is known to occur through sex (anal, vaginal, and, less frequently, oral) or through blood contact (sharing injection needles, healthcare settings). It is not known to be transmitted through the casual contact you describe (touching someone's hand, and then your own genitals).
Consider making a donation to your local AIDS service organization.
