oral sex
Mar 8, 2001

I performed oral sex on a man and injured his penis with my teeth. There was a little blood. I panicked. I got tested at 4 weeks and again at 11 weeks. Both negative. Should I do the test again and if so, when? What's the chance of antibodies forming later than 11 weeks?

Response from Mr. Kull

The chances of antibodies becoming detectable by standard antibody tests after 11 weeks are very small. The window period is technically three months long (according to many sources) and the test would have greater than 99% accuracy at that point. Whether or not you are comfortable with an antibody test at 11 weeks can only be judged by you.
