hepatitis from oral sex

Apr 25, 2003

hello it possible to get hepatitis b,c from oral sex? can you mention what viral stds exist, or stds that are asymptomatic for years? how valid is a negative hiv anti-body test after 15 wk exposure from unprotective insertive fellatio, and 11wk after vaginal exposure to hiv from comdom breaking?

Response from Mr. Kull

Hepatitis B is transmitted through bodily fludis, such as semen, vaginal secretions and blood, so it possible to become infected with HBV when performing oral sex on an infected person. Hepatitis C is transmitted through contact with blood, so oral sex is not a likely route for transmission.

The window period for HIV antibody testing is three months/12 weeks. Testing should not be considered accurate until this amount of time has elapsed since exposure.

could i have a symptom of hiv?
