Could I have been misdiagnosed with mono?
Dec 23, 2002
In 1998 I had recently returned from Great Britain when I became extremely ill. I was extremely fatigued, had a fever and vomiting, as well as jaundice, irregular vaginal bleeding and swelling of the liver for more than a month. I went to the hospital four different times before being diagnosed with mono nucleosis, but is it possible that I was misdiagnosed and have an untreated problem such as hepatitis or another STD?
Response from Mr. Kull
Infectious mononucleosis is diagnosed through specific testing. I'm not in a position to tell you whether or not you were misdiagnosed; any questions about diagnosis should be directed to the appropriate physician.
