my friend died 3 years ago from., aids., we had sex in 1997.i've been tested 5 times.,all negative.,is this possible.

As long as your tests were performed three or more months after your last exposure to him, you are HIV negative. Only one test is really necessary, as the antibody tests used to screen for HIV antibodies are extremely sensitive and specific.
