| Response from Mr. Kull
Hepatitis B virus is transmitted through contact with saliva, semen, vaginal secretions and blood. A vaccine for hepatitis B is available.
HTLV (human T-cell lymphotropic virus), a retrovirus that, in rare cases, can lead to adult T-cell leukemia. HTLV is a rare virus and most people infected with HTLV remain healthy carriers. HTLV is transmitted in the some of the same ways as HIV: through unprotected sex or direct blood contact. HTLV is also found in saliva, but it is not clear if it can be transmitted through receiving oral sex. HTLV infection is not something to be concerned about.
