| Dear Mr. Kull Feb 26, 2001 I had an incident where I was infected with HIV, The person who infected me disappeared without a trace shortly after the incident. My doctor suggested HIV infection during my acute illness and I denied it. My HIV test was negative at 6 months and 1 year. Should I now take a PCR test for conclusion? Thanks |

Response from Mr. Kull
Wait! How do you know that you are HIV infected? What were the details of your exposure? Why did the doctor suggest acute retroviral syndrome? For some reason, you've convinced yourself that you are HIV infecte even though it looks like you are not infected. If your antibody tests were negative at six months and one year, then you are HIV negative (with 99.9% accuracy). There seems to be no need for PCR testing. RMK | |||
