Scared about encounter with older woman
Feb 16, 2001
I recently had an encounter with an older woman and I was hoping if you could determine whether this is safe sex practice. Basically we shared a night in bed together naked however we did not engage in any sexual contact e.g. anal, vaginal or oral however she did give me a hand job but I did not ejaculate. Also we did hug, massage and kiss a lot. I want to know if she happened to have HIV would I be at much or any risk of contracting it? Do you know of any cases of people getting HIV just from hugging, sharing a bed or getting a normal massage while naked?
Response from Mr. Kull
According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are no documented cases of HIV transmission occuring through hugging, sharing a bed, or getting a massage or hand job. Infected fluids need to come into direct contact with your blood or mucous membranes for infection to be possible.
Does your concern have something to do with the fact that she was "older" (you make a point of mentioning this twice)? Her age should have no relevance to her HIV status, but may have some influence on your feelings about the encounter. Just an idea that I thought I'd check out with you.
