| Effects of Birth Control Feb 14, 2002 Since oral contraceptives produce a thicker cervical mucous making it harder for semen to penetrate and gain access to the uterus, would this make it harder for the bacteria in a sense to access the mucous membrane and enter the blood stream? |

There is no evidence that oral contraceptives prevent sexually transmitted infections. Use condoms to prevent STIs, especially if you are unsure about your partner's status. RMK | |||||||||
