 Syphilis is spread when you come into contact with the highly infectious fluid that is released from a syphilis related sore, lesion, or moist rash. Syphilis is spread through sexual contact -- oral, anal, and vaginal sex -- and through kissing when the sores are present in the mouth. Signs of syphilis are initially marked by a single firm, painless sore called a chancre. This can last up to five weeks. Syphilis can be successfully cured with antibiotics and it is diagnosed through a blood test. It is possible to get syphilis from someone performing oral sex on you if sores are present in the person's mouth. I do not know how likely transmission would be in any given circumstance.
