I have been relaxing etc but something happened today having sex with my partner. The condom just broke (only the top of it) and I realized 1 minute later. I took it out and washed my "thing" a lot so quick, etc, but what a mess!!! I have been trying to relax because We just got his test positive and mine negative a month ago and waiting for the three months to repeat my test and now this happened... He says not to worry because it was so quick, just a few area of the head of my "thing" was exposed for kind of minute and then We took it off and washed as I said... what to think?

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi,
I agree you shouldn't worry excessively. However, I also suggest you reset your HIV testing timetable. You'll need a three- and six-month test from the date of your last potential exposure (broken-condom incident). I'd also recommend you review proper condom technique, as they only very rarely break when used correctly. You can read about proper condom technique in the archives of this forum.
Good luck.
