Splash to lips from possible urine containing blood what is the risk

Im lab worker who had a splash to the lips when screwing lid back into a urine sample containing blood. about a minute after wards releases what happened washed off with water several time. I looked the patient detail and he was an 85 years old man with rhemology diffculties. No other evidence of infection. Im i at risk ???

Hello,
Your HIV risk from this incident is so remote it's essentially nonexistent. As with all potential occupational exposures, you should report and document the incident. It might be possible to run an HIV test on the source patient. Certainly for this event, PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) would not be warranted.
