new condoms?

hey doc,
there is a new type of durex condom for latex sensitive people, it is called "avanti ultima". u have said before that polyurethane is good for protection from STD's, but what abt this new type? it is made from poly-isoprene or sth like that. can you pleeease check this out? this will be useful for everyone with latex allergy.

Hi,
My understanding is that Avanti Ultima condoms are made from a non-latex synthetic material called polyisoprene. They have been dermatologically tested and under test conditions have been shown to have minimal potential for induced delayed hypersensitivity (also called "Type IV allergy" and "allergic contact dermatitis"). Some highly latex-sensitive individuals, however, may experience sensitivity to these condoms and therefore should discontinue use and seek medical advice if they experience any allergic-type symptoms. The Avanti Ultima offers protection from HIV if it's used properly and if it doesn't fail (break). They are compatible with water-based lubricants. However, as with latex condoms, oil-based lubricants should be avoided.
