VL 20? Jan 24, 2005 greetings from one small european country! I have been on HAART since february 04 and my VL decreased from 600,000 to 1640, 0 and 0 (with 3 months period from each other tests). Last test show VL 20 (amplicor ultrasensitive 1.5) and I was surprised thinking it can not show results under 50. Still didnt have chance to speak with doctor so I am really affraid if it is early sign of virologic failure, lab mistake or something third? |

 The lower range for both the 1.0 and 1.5 Amplicor ultrasensitive assay is < 50 copies/ml. I agree with you, this test is not capable of detecting values below 50 copies/ml. Perhaps this represents a typographical or clerical error. More generally, I would not be concerned about a single viral load value at such a low level. I suggest that you talk to your doctor about this result. |
