 OHL is a marker of immunosuppression and can be seen in any condition where this be the case, such as HIV, immunosuppressive therapies, bone marrow transplant, etc. There have also been several case reports which have documented the presence of OHL in HIV-negative immunocompetent people. I cannot explain to you why we see OHL in immunocompetent individuals at this point in time as the research is not complete. I hope this information proves helpful. DR |
