Thrush
Apr 20, 1999

In a recent trip to the doctor I found that I have thrush. I haven't had sexual intercourse with anyone but my wife in nine years but I decided to have a HIV test done anyway. It came back negative. What other things could be causing thrush in an adult male.

Response from Dr. Reznik

There are several other factors besides HIV that can lead to a person developing thrush including, but not limited to the following:

uncontrolled diabetes use of asthma inhalers use of broad spectrum antibiotics any condition or medication that would suppress your immune system

To find out the cause of your candidiasis, please consult your local physician.

I hope this proves helpful
