Erythematous Candidiasis vs. Geographic Tongue

Hi, How can one tell the difference between Erythematous Candidiasis and Geographic Tongue. From the pictures I've seen they appear very similar and are described somewhat in the same way. Can you please shed some light on the differences? Thanks.

Erythematous candidiasis (EC) presents as a red, flat, subtle lesion normally on the dorsal (top) surface of the tongue and/or the hard and soft palates. Whereas it is possible for EC to present anywhere within the oral cavity, the vast majority of the time is localized to one of the previously mentioned areas. On the tongue, EC has a great predilection to present right on the top of the tongue somewhere near the middle.
Geographic tongue, which is an autoimmune disorder, presents anywhere on the tongue, usually in a migratory fashion i.e. not in the same exact place twice, and is associated with white borders which outline the affected area.
