In the above picture, the white-ish spot in the middle is (pretty obviously) trush. What about the white-ish appearance of the gums (the other white appearing things in the picture besides the teeth)... is that thrush too?

The only area in the picture you refer to of pseudomembranous candidiasis, (http://www.hivdent.org/slides/psud_cand_m.htm )
which actually is candidiasis is the area on the roof of the mouth.
Remember, pseudomembranous candidiasis or what is commonly refered to as thrush, presents as white or creamy plaques that can occur anywhere within the oral cavity. These plaques will wipe away sometimes leaving a red or bleeding surface.
