what is oral thrush?????

hi, i was wondering what is oral thrush and what does it look like? i've read about it, but i can't seen to find any good pictures! when i wake up in the morning, i usually have some white stuff at the sides of my lips that is sometimes soft and sometimes hard and sort of crusty i guess, but when i remove it there is no bleeding and it doesn't hurt at all. is this a sign? and i've also heard about white patches on your tongue, what is that all about. my friends say they get that too, but they just brush it off and its no biggie, and they are not sexually active by religion, but i, on the other hand, have been, but only with mutual masturbation, no kissing or anal, or giving oral. help me please. thanx!:s

Since candidiasis is an infection, the area under the white, curd-like patches will normally be red when the "thrush" is removed.
The "white patches" you describe on your friends tongue sounds very much like coated tongue, which is nothing more than the result of not brushing the tongue when brushing teeth. What happens is an overgrowth of the normal papillae of the tongue which then trap bacteria.
One final point: mutual masturbation is considered a safer sex practice and should not put you at risk for HIV infection.
