Cartoon in ID clinic. Are they looking into prevention?

The cartoon that I saw was showing how HIV enters the body, disguises itself, then replicates itself in one part. Then the other part shows HIV while on meds being kept out, the ones in the body unable to reproduce, then dying.

Now, my thought is this. If a POZ person is involved with a NEG person, why couldnt a milder drug be used to keep the NEG person from becoming infected? To kill the virus before it has had a real chance of attaching itself to the cells would seem to be a good scenario for mixed couples. Has this scenario been studied? Will it be studied? Does it already exist? This is for all experts, not just you.
