sex with an HIV negative partner
Sep 12, 2011
we have been dating for two years with my partner and discovered that i am HIV positive and the partner negative. What are the chances that we can continue as usuall without the partner contractin the virus?
Response from Mr. Vergel
Get on HIV medications and aim at bringing your viral load down to undetectable while you practice safe sex. Undetectable viral load can dramatically decrease the chances that you will infect your partner.
Any HIV+ person with a HIV negative partner should get on HIV medications no matter how high their CD4 cells are. Even if you are a top who uses condoms, having undetectable viral load can ensure that your partner won't get infected if you ejaculate inside and find out that the condom broke or slipped out of your penis while you were having sex.
