Drop in tcells
Feb 4, 2011

Hello Nelson, last Aug 17th my tcells were at 633. I just got my results for November 5th and my tcells are now at 426. My viral load HIV-1 RNA ULTR in copies per mililiter has been undetectable lower than 48 copies, but my most recent labs used another test, HIV-1 RNA Real Time PCR which came back at 60 with a reportable range of 20 - 10,000. Am I losing T Cells? Should I be considering new medications?

Response from Mr. Vergel

I would be interested to know your CD4 cell percentage. Sometimes our white blood cells drop without any reason, but as long as the percentage of those cells as CD4 cells remains constant, you know that there is no erosion in your proportion of CD4 cells.

Nelson
