Is there a nutritional/diet suggested for a person diagnosed with rhabdomylosis? The rhabdomylosis was diagnosed as caused by medications intending to reduce cholesterol levels (Zetia and Lipitor). Medical advice after release from hospital was to continue with at least 8 glasses of water daily plus rest to further reduce myoglobin from bloodstream and discontinuation of all medications (including diabetic meds as now controlled by diet). There was no other advice. I am wondering if there is any nutritional supplements to speed up recovery as muscle tiredness has not receded and exhaustion is constant. Currently have blood checks weekly which vary from 3K to 6K something with doctor wanting levels to be below 2K. Any advice would be helpful.

Yes, actually the use of Coenzyme Q-10 at 300 mg per day may help your muscle mitochondria restore to normal.
Co-enzyme Q10 is damaged during the statin drug effect. The stronger the statin or the more lipid lowering drugs are combined, the more severe this effect. You can read about it here: Dose-related decrease of serum coenzyme Q10 during treatment with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
Some researchers believe that taking a coenzyme Q10 supplement may reduce the risk of serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis). And some small reports suggest that muscle and joint aches from statins might be reduced if you take coenzyme Q10 along with a statin. However, no large studies have confirmed this theory, and current guidelines don't recommend routine use of coenzyme Q10 in people taking statins.
I would also take 500-100 mg per day of L-Carnitine since it also shown to be protective to the mitochondria and also decreases myopathy (muscle weakness) related to drugs like AZT in the past. More on Carnitine: Carnitine technical info
