 This is good news. This will be the first product approved for lipodystrophy related abdominal fat accumulation. Serono, the company who owns the rights of the product in the United States, says that the drug will be available on January 2011, but physicians can start calling their number to get help with letters of medical necessity to be submitted to insurance companies. Serono also has a very good patient assistance program that will start early next year. I have summarized all important information on Egrifta here, including a letter that our activist group sent them with our wishes: Egrifta Key Information and Activists Views Stay tuned for more on the story as I get input from doctors who will be calling Serono to start the insurance reimbursement process.
