Response from Mr. Vergel
There are 1.2-1.3 million of us in the US About half a million are taking HIV medications. About 250,000 people don't know they are HIV+ and will probably not find out until they get sick and end up in the hospital. Most people are doing well with undetectable viral load, although we really do not know what percentage of all treated are in that group. And there are some of us who are in salvage therapy and have developed resistance to most meds. That salvage group is shrinking but still present. Probably 10% of us are in that group. People are coming in for testing at around 198 CD 4 cells average, so most people are waiting a long time to get tested in the U.S. Nelson | |||||||||
