| Fiber and meds Jul 24, 2008 I take Sustiva (bedtime) and Combovir (noon & bedtime). Will taking fiber caps at those times interfere with the efficacy? Also I vaguely recall something about high fat meals and Sustiva. |

Response from Mr. Vergel
Do not take fiber caps with HIV medications since they may impair absorption. You can take your fiber with breakfast and take your HIV meds at night. Also, take Sustiva if you can two or three hours after eating. Food tends to increase Sustiva's blood levels and you may experience more CNS side effects. Also, are you aware than the AZT present in Combivir may cause lipoatrophy (fat loss under the skin) is some patients? You may want to talk to your doctor about it. Nelson | ||||||||||
