I feel all fruit is bad for HIVers. They all can cause diarhea not matter how fresh they. I feel vitamin supplement is enough. We dont have to eat fruit..

Good point. If you have diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome, fruit can make it worse. But fruit can normalize gut pH and also feed the healthy bacteria in your gut that keeps your stools hard and firm. I take calcium carbonate supplements, and enzymes to combat my Norvir induced diarrhea, and eat fresh fruit every day (and take multi vitamins also) Soluble fiber like pectin (found in apples) can also help with diarrhea a lot.

Functions of Soluble Fiber: Bind with fatty acids, prolong stomach emptying time so that sugar is released and absorbed more slowly

Benefits of Soluble Fiber: Lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) therefore reducing the risk of heart disease,regulate blood sugar for people with diabetes

Food Sources of Soluble Fiber: Oat/Oat bran Dried beans and peas Barley Flax seeds Fruits such as oranges and apples Vegetables such as carrots Psyllium husks
