What substances or supplements are helpful in order to avoid neuropathy?
| Response from Mr. Vergel
The best way to avoid neuropathy is to avoid the "D" Drugs like DDC, DDI, and D4T. However, some people with HIV who have not taken these drugs may also have neuropathy. The only study that I have seen on the use of supplements for neuropathy is one done with Acetyl-L-Carnitine at 2000-3000 mg/day that found reversal of nerve damage. Diabetics have also been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for neuropathy (we have no HIV data) Talk to your doctor about this.
