Treatment tolerated foods or supplements
Apr 14, 2003

I am on combivir and sustiva. I would like to know from you, which diets, foods, nutrients, and supplements are TOLERATED by this treatment, and those that are NOT TOLERATED by this treatment. In other words, I mean the drug-food interatcions.

Please help me. Thank you.

Response from Mr. Vergel

Combivir has no food restrictions. Sustiva's absorption can be decreased by fat, so take it with low fat meals or on an empty stomach before bed time. There are a few small studies of interactions between Saint John's Wort and garlic and protease inhibitors but I have seen none about Combivir and Sustiva.
