Testim by Auxilium

Has Testim been approved for treatment in HIV? Is this similar to Androgel? What can you tell me about either one?
Response from Mr. Vergel
No, like Androgel (the other testosterone gel in the market), Testim is approved for the treatment of hypogonadism (low blood levels of testosterone). It seems to be cheaper and 30 % better absorbed than Androgel, per manufacturer's claims. It also has a cap that allows to use only the needed amount without discarding the rest (Androgel comes in packets of 2.5 and 5 grams that need to be used in their entirity if opened). Testim has a slight smell (I think it smells like soap). Both Androgel and Testim leave no residue. Ask your doctor and pharmacist about both products. They are both a lot more expensive than testosterone shots but they provide less fluctuations in the levels of testosterone in the blood. Shots have to be given once every two weeks and the gels have to be applied to your shoulders daily.
