Multivitamin
Apr 11, 2008

Is multivitamin good? Also, is there any specific ingredient to avoid in supplements?

Bought this for my boyfriend recetly from Natures Farm :

Nature's Farm Super Multis is designed to optimize your vitality and energy. Bursting with natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and a super-energizing green food complex, it delivers 57 nutrients in synergistic harmony. Nature's Farm Super Multis is also fortified with heart friendly Co-enzyme Q 10.

Response from Mr. Vergel

I cannot comment on that product. I am very concerned about the fact that the FDA does not require to have supplement manufacturers to prove that they have the promised ingredients.

At the Houston Buyers Club, we tend to trust brands like Jarrow and Super Nutrition since they happily show us quality control documents.

There are some limited data on the use of KPAX, a supplement designed by Dr Kaiser with a mixture of antioxidants that showed some increase in CD4 cells in a small study. You may want to look into that option if you can afford it (NY ADAP and some medicares cover it also.)

A cheap multivitamin that conatains 200 micrograms of selenium a day is a good start for anyone, taken once or twice a day with meals. Of course, nothing can replace eating colorful fruits and vegetables to get a complete profile of antioxidants and minerals.
