Recently diagnosed with some questions
Jun 21, 2003
hello,
I was recently diagnosed and my doctor said that if i adhere to my regimens there is no reason to die from hiv. I want to know what kind of foods in general should I avoid for my overall health?

Response from Mr. Vergel

I agree with your doctor. Take your medications as prescribed and manage any side effects. We have 18 drugs approved now, so also keep in mind that most of us have options in case that a combo does not agree with you!
I would avoid animal fats (fatty meats and fried food), eat lost of salmon, tuna, sardines, use olive oil instead of all others, lower your sugar intake and avoid sodas, eat good protein (nuts, lean meats, eggs, low fat cheese, chicken, fish, whey protein shakes, etc), eat lvegetables and fruits of all colors, and exercise and take a good multivitamin twice a day. Ask your doctor to refer you to a good dietitian.
Let me know if you have any more questions. I have lived with this thing for 20 years and can help out a lot. Nelson
